Free printable family conversation cards
We’ve all been there, sitting around the dinner table and tired of asking the same ol’ “So how was school today, honey?” and your child simply answers “fine” or “ok”. And you proceed to swirl the spaghetti around your spoon thinking of what to say next to engage them a bit more. I get it. My kinds don’t like to talk either haha.
I have always seen these card ideas in store with different topics or fun “Would you rather?” questions and decided it was a great idea to make a set for my own family and yours!

60 great conversation cards for families
In this free printable you’ll fine 60, ready to print, conversation cards to engage your kids and find out some pretty fun and cool facts about them along the way! And share some fun facts about yourself as well because, let’s face it, the older we get the more we forget!
The ultimate goal with these family cards is to help start the conversation with your kids and each other simply by asking direct questions vs broad questions such as “how was your day?”.
The cards reflect on many different things
- Fun activities the person likes
- Using their imagination to think of different scenarios
- Reflecting on nice things they or someone else did
- Thinking about memories and goals
- Things the person loves about another family member
- Reflect on feelings and actions
- Learn new facts about one another

What’s Included:
- Single print PDF with 5 pages of cards (60 cards total)
Supplies Needed:
Below are the supplies I recommend to get the best out of your new printable!
- Bright White Cardstock (not required but makes it pretty!)
- Printer (this HP ones my favorite)
- Self-Adhesive Laminating Sheets (not required but sure makes it easier if you want to reuse them!)
How these cards work:
The concept is simple, once you’ve printed off your cards below you will want to cut them out so they are all equal (or as even as you can get them) to make it easy to pick from. Then, at the dinner table, take turns drawing cards and asking the question! You’ll be surprised what fun facts and tidbits you find out about your kids and yourself!
You can draw a single card for each person to answer or draw a card and have everyone at the table answer, whichever works best for your situation.
These can also be used for road trips when you’re tired of playing the same old games or answering the same “How much longer?” question until you’re blue in the face.
Pro Tip: Laminate these cards so you can easily re-use them!

This is appreciated more than you know, I have tried to sit at the dinner table and make conversation and my mind goes blank trying to say things to help open up the teens. This is a break through for us. ..I will pass it forward because if every family would have the oportunity like this, it would be a much better place. xoxo
I am so glad you and your family love them Lupita. I know how hard teens can be, I love that it’s helping you guys get closer!
