Free printable letters of the alphabet to trace
As adults we know that repetition helps us learn a new skill and learning to read and write is no different! These trace the letters worksheets focus on repetition to help your child learn each letter one by one. With a total of 26 worksheets, one for each letter, you can take your time and work on a single letter at a time or use it to create an entire booklet for them to work through!
Each sheet includes a large preview of the letter, a fun graphic that relates to the letter and then both uppercase and lowercase letters to work on. So your child can visually see how the letter is used and then work on tracing and writing it themselves!
How to use the trace the letters worksheets
Using these worksheets is simple but there are a few things I recommend!
- Start by saying the letter out loud with your child, you can say it and then have them repeat or see if they know it themselves!
- Identify the graphic on the worksheet and make sure to enunciate the first letter (that’s the one we’re focusing on after all!)
- Have your child start by tracing the uppercase letter, they can do this as many times as they need to. Make sure they take their time and following the dots.
- Once they have the uppercase letter they can work on the lowercase and repeat that as much as necessary
- The bottom line includes a section for both! So once they’ve mastered them they can work on writing both together
