Rainbow matching game

This rainbow matching game is so much fun for the rainbow lover! Of course if your child is like mine they may be a bit upset the rainbow isn’t in the correct order, but a little chaos makes life fun I think!

This game focuses on different styled rainbows, not just color, to make it a bit more difficult and really challenge their skills!

Rainbow matching game for kids

This fun rainbow matching game is perfect for little ones 2-6yrs old (older is ok too!). Let them match all the rainbows (be careful to note the style differences in them!) and see how many they can get on their own.

And if you want a bit more of a challenge, you can set a timer and see how many they can go in a certain amount of time! Of course this is once they get good at it, no need to panic them the first round haha.

Supplies Needed:

Below are the supplies I recommend to make the best out of your game!

How to play the matching game

Below you’ll find the link to the free printable which includes both a front and back sheet. I typically recommend matching games to be printed on bright white card stock to prevent them from being see through. However, if you don’t have that option available you can use the back sheet included and glue them together with a glue stick to prevent them from being see through when you play.

Once you’ve printed out your sheet(s) you can begin cutting! Cut each square on the dashed line to create your cards. Now you’re ready to turn them over and start matching!

You will want to set aside a place (at the table or on the floor) for this activity, unfortunately it’s not one of our on the go printables like our activity sheets but that’s ok! You can still spread out and enjoy this fun activity at home!

Pro Tip: Use laminate sheets to make this game reusable and not as easy to destroy/bend when little hands are playing with it!

What are the benefits of a memory game?

There’s so many great benefits to this fun activity, a big one being visual memory of course! It also helps kids improve their memory, focus, develop problem-solving skills, fine motor skills, social skills, and confidence, all while having fun!

Overall, matching games are a fun and engaging way for kids to develop a range of important skills while also having fun.
